Let’s be clear: if there is any question about what you should be focusing on over the next week, trust us, it’s health care. We absolutely need to kill TrumpCare in the Senate.

This week of recess is a test for TrumpCare. For the next week, Congress is in recess, meaning Senators and Representatives are back home in their states and districts. Behind closed doors, Republicans in the Senate are weighing whether to protect the well-being of their constituents, or give Donald Trump a win on TrumpCare. And what they decide to do is going to greatly depend on what they hear this recess.

Most Members of Congress (MoCs) are too chicken to hold a real town hall, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have a chance to make your voice heard. You need to make sure they aren’t cutting a ribbon or kissing a baby without running into a huge wall of people demanding answers on health care. Action items

• Ask the right questions at your MoC’s town hall: If your MoC is having a town hall, use these questions to bring the heat on health care (our top priority for recess), Trump’s billionaire budget proposal, demanding an independent commission on Russia, and protecting American families from big banks.
• No town hall? No problem: Have an empty chair town hall with your MoC, or use our new toolkit to visit their district office and demand your Senator says no to Trumpcare.

P.S. A note on the Montana special election: Your resistance to the Trump agenda is working, and the President’s low approval rating and attacks on working families, women, and immigrants will continue to prove a costly bet for Republicans across the country. Last night in Montana we reaffirmed that Democrats are continuing to trend closer to flipping the House. Democrats are outperforming in places that are deeply red and that will have major consequences in many districts next year (and, a reminder: we only need 24 seats to take back the House). Our movement will hold all leaders accountable and will seek to transform power back to the people in 2018 and beyond.
